“Some artists paint for years, striving for that one painting that will catapult them over the ‘art’ fence they have been straddling. Lynette didn’t just step over the fence, she leaped over it with this painting. Her detail of this amazing animal of the western plains is truly amazing.” Kay
If you can get two or more of your family or friends to sign up for my newsletter, ELF News, I will send you a box of my notecards in appreciation!
I’m excited to share with you my new logo!
Congratulations goes out to Nichole Thissen for winning the May newsletter drawing. She choose the “Murphy McDougall” print. I would encourage you to tell your family and friends about ELF News and they, too, can be entered into my drawings for a chance to win a piece of my artwork.
Ray and I are very touched by your words and it means so much to both of us that you did the painting. With you being from this area and knowing the family, you know how special it is to us and to dad and we can tell the love you put in to painting it. You captured all that we wanted and more!
It was an honor and privilege to paint this commission piece for Ray & Cyndy Larson. We have visited over the past several years about doing some form of a painting of their farm or something related to the farm. Then Ray & Cyndy emailed me and asked if I had ever painted cows– and this painting came to be! They sent me lots of photographs and we tossed around lots of ideas. It developed into a legacy painting; Alfie observing the life he had built feeding cattle and farming land in and around the area. The shadow represents those family members who are helping and following in his footsteps. The area to Alfie’s left portrays the James River which is a memorable part of the landscape around the Larson farm. One of my goals in painting this was, as Cyndy stated to me, “I know it will only grow more precious to us as the years pass.”
The winner of my second drawing for signing up for my email newsletter is Brenda Johnson from Bath, South Dakota. Brenda has chosen the Petunias and Butterfly print. I will soon be announcing May’s prize or choice of prizes for signing up for my newsletter or visiting my web site and leaving a comment or signing up to follow me on Twitter. Those already signed up will also be placed in my drawing which will be held the middle of May. Keep checking back to see what’s new!!
A remarque is a small original drawing or symbol that is done by the artist. I have painted a remarque on a matte or near my signature on a print. I personally use acrylic, colored pencil or pencil but it also can be done in watercolor or pen & ink. The presence of a remarque is most appreciated by serious art collectors because it not only adds value to a print but also because it becomes a one of a kind. Here is an example of a print, entitled Amos, that I remarqued. I thought it would be perfect for the Black Lab lover who hunts ducks. If you would like to know more information on this Limited Edition framed print , please email me or contact me at 307-265-6020. Thank you.
As titles of my paintings are very important to me……….I was showing a close friend of mine my new website over the holidays and we started talking about my black & white painting of this Lion. As I hadn’t titled it yet, we decided that it should be named, ‘The Lion of Judah” Revelation 5:5. I painted this on a 9 X 12 black canvas. The framed original is available here. Thank you. Lynette
Congratulations goes to a dear friend of mine who signed up for my new newsletter. Nancy Walter is the winner of the 8 X 10 matted and framed mini print of the Purple Finch. Nancy was really excited when I messaged her this morning to say she had won. She mentioned that she never wins anything so was really excited to hear that she had won my picture. She also mentioned that they feed purple finches all the time so that added to her excitement. Thanks to all who entered and your names will be included in the next giveaway. Keep checking my web site for new releases and news. Tell family and friends to sign up for the newsletter coming mid Jan and they can be entered to win the next time. Thank you and Happy New Year.
