Katie’s Collection

I’m excited to announce a new collection to Ruth’s Images. Here is the first in a new series titled “Katie’s Collection”.  Pictured here is “Katie’s Iris.” I have the original available as well as a small edition of Collector Edition prints.

My niece, Katie, inherited my sister’s green thumb and has provided me with several floral pictures to paint from. My sister was so talented with florals. From real ones in her garden to arranging silk flowers in a beautiful arrangement. She could do it all. Be watching in the New Year for more in this series.

“Chow Line” and the Gala

I had the honor of being commissioned by Ray & Josh Larson to do a painting for the upcoming 5th Annual Prime Time Gala and concert on June 23, 2018 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. This original acrylic painting titled “Chow Line” will be auctioned at the Gala.
The headliner for the concert will be award-winning country music artist, Justin Moore, featuring Tracy Lawrence and Diamond Rio, at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. This event is sponsored by the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation. All proceeds from the concert, gala auction and truck raffle will support “Feeding South Dakota” as well as their scholarship program.

Take a “Double Take”

“Some artists paint for years, striving for that one painting that will catapult them over the ‘art’ fence they have been straddling. Lynette didn’t just step over the fence, she leaped over it with this painting. Her detail of this amazing animal of the western plains is truly amazing.” Kay

From Ray & Cyndy Larson

Ray and I are very touched by your words and it means so much to both of us that you did the painting.  With you being from this area and knowing the family, you know how special it is to us and to dad and we can tell the love you put in to painting it.  You captured all that we wanted and more!

The Larson Legacy

It was an honor and privilege to paint this commission piece for Ray & Cyndy Larson. We have visited over the past several years about doing some form of a painting of their farm or something related to the farm. Then Ray & Cyndy emailed me and asked if I had ever painted cows– and this painting came to be! They sent me lots of photographs and we tossed around lots of ideas. It developed into a legacy painting; Alfie observing the life he had built feeding cattle and farming land in and around the area. The shadow represents those family members who are helping and following in his footsteps. The area to Alfie’s left portrays the James River which is a memorable part of the landscape around the Larson farm. One of my goals in painting this was, as Cyndy stated to me, “I know it will only grow more precious to us as the years pass.”
