A remarque is a small original drawing or symbol that is done by the artist. I have painted a remarque on a matte or near my signature on a print. I personally use acrylic, colored pencil or pencil but it also can be done in watercolor or pen & ink. The presence of a remarque is most appreciated by serious art collectors because it not only adds value to a print but also because it becomes a one of a kind. Here is an example of a print, entitled Amos, that I remarqued.
